Research for 15 minuet Demos

Research of Different Shows

For my breakfast show I listened to the Chris Moyle’s show in the morning on BBC radio one. The time it is on is 6:00 am to 9:00am. The show itself is very chatty and quick paced as well but not so quick that it is hard for the listener to keep up with the conversation. It is not in a serious style but in a funny comic style to make the audience feel more laid back. The language they use is very informal so that the audience is kept listening.

Mark Murphy’s Saturday show on BBC radio Suffolk is a weekend show for many older people it is on in the morning at about 9:00 am, the content is relaxing and interactive with the audience as it’s asking for their opinions of the week and how their weekend is going. It is a fairly slow show not very loud so it is quiet. It is formal language but not so informal that it is extremely boring or sound like the news. The sound effects are tracks on in the background.

ASDA Fm live is mainly songs but of all types and from all eras as well it is very laid back but the language is formal and of a sensible tone. There is a small amount of speech that is advertisements. Theses adverts are for products that they are selling within the store; this is so that mothers or people shopping will think to buy the product.

For Ipswich Community Radio I listened to why the long face which is on at 10:00pm it is a lot of conversations and but also a fair bite of music. It is very relaxed but also sounds like two friends hosting a show together. It does have humor in it but is very relaxed. There are some inside jokes but is still jokes that you as a listener can enjoy, there is talk about certain topics but can jump from topic to topic.

Reaserch of Types of Radio Stations

Research

In store radio is music or radio that is only played in a store or shop such as ASDA, however it can also be broadcast on the Internet, it advertises many products and deals that the store sells or has. It also plays many songs both old and new and seasonal so when it is Christmas you will only hear Christmas songs and not much else. When listening to in store radio shows you wont often hear phone ins or competition or much chatter between presenters as when people are shopping they wont want to hear people being silly or how some ones day is.

Many stores have radio stations and in store audio, these are however not provided by the actual store but by a company that the store employs to provide them with this service. One of these companies is called headland media, this companies supplies 11 stores with their audio such stores/ retailers are ADSA, CostCutter, House of Fraser and Dunelm mill plus more

Internet radio, is an audio service for people that is transmitted by the Internet and not radio waves, this done as a broadcast on the Internet or webcastng as it is not transmitted widely through the means of wireless. To make Internet radio you must stream the medium so it presents listeners with continues audio in which they cannot control, this is like most traditional radios stations that transmit over radio waves. This means that it is much different from "on-demand" file serving such as BBC iplayer. Internet radio is also different from normal podcasting, which entitles the listener to download rather than streaming the program. A lot of Internet radio stations are linked with normal traditional or terrestrial radio stations or radio networks. Radio stations that are just on the Internet are independent and are not linked with such radio stations.

Internet radio stations/programs can be listened to anywhere in the world one example of this is that someone could listen to a station that was made in England, Ipswich but they live in Sydney Australia, however some stations will restrict how far their station is broadcast if they are a major station, this is also because of music licensing and advertisements concerns. Internet radio is very popular with expatriates and listeners that have interests that are not served by mainstream stations and traditional stations such as progressive rock, ambient music or folk music.

Many of these stations are stations like ICR or Ipswich Community Radio

Is a community radio station that is broadcast mainly over the Internet and has many different shows that will specialize in their own areas that the presenter wants to specialize in their main area of interest that their audience is also interested in.

Commercial radio stations are very popular stations that many people listen to however many are aimed at a pacific age range so their audience is people of that age. They are called commercial radio stations because they are mainly funded by advertisements that companies pay to have on their station. These types of stations are like heart. Fm and BBC radio 2 so they are very popular stations. Commercial stations are also broadcast through out the day from the early morning till late at night. They are not broadcast in just one area of broadcasting but many areas such as terrestrial or mast broadcasting, internet however you can also listen to repeats of shows on the internet too and some store will also play commercial radio when they don’t have their own stations them selves. many people would refer to commercial radio as normal radio as it is so common as many people will switch it on in the morning or at night. It is one of the biggest types of radio as so many people listen to it and it is so accessible for people that it is near enough everywhere you go so it is very popular for people. One main radio station that is an example of a commercial radio is BBC radio 1, which aims at many young people. This means that there is a lot of banter between presenters and has many competitions. The reason for them being a commercial radio station is that they play many adverts and jingles in between their songs.
